With my art I want to make the beauty and value of the earth visible.
About
I am Jente
My name is Jente Ploos van Amstel, visual artist and art teacher, based in Drenthe, the Netherlands. My work grows out of a strong connection with nature.
The earth and its natural structures, colours and textures are an important source of inspiration. With my art I invite you to look at our natural surroundings in a different way: not just as the backdrop of our daily lives, but as something we are connected to and that deserves our attention.

About the process
In my work I use sand, clay and earth as paint. I collect it from my own surroundings and from places that hold meaning. The material is dried, sieved and ground into a fine pigment, which I use to build up my works.
In this way, every work carries the characteristics of a specific place.
