About the process

How I work

In my work I use sand, clay and earth as paint. The natural colours and structures of these materials are the starting point for every work.

I collect earth and sand from my own surroundings and from places that hold meaning. In my studio the material is dried, sieved and ground into a fine pigment. I add no traditional paint.

I build up each work layer by layer. The properties of the material, chance and my own hand together determine the result.

Nature as my greatest inspiration

In this way every work carries the characteristics of a specific place, without being a literal depiction of it. The earth is not just the material I work with, but an essential part of the work itself.
